Loota Progress

I thought I would have a little go with my new paints and also begin work on my lootas. I'm really happy with the paints and I would completely recommend them to anyone else curious enough to try.

The consistency is excellent and aids layering very nicely. It is going to take me some time to get used to them but so far they have allowed me a greater degree of control.  In the pictures above you can see how the skin is being built up in multiple thin layers. This is something I wouldn't normally do with GW paints but the Vallejo ones have persuaded me into the technique naturally. It's an effect I like, although it does consume more time. I think the finished results may speak for themselves, but I'm not quite there yet.

The bottles are also far better than GW paints because they minimize paint waste and allow for more balanced blending. The bottles allow for a controlled drop of paint to be added to the pallet and so a truly 50/50 blend can be achieved.

I am still messing about with the different colours and I am yet to use the inks but so far I am very pleased with the results. I can't see myself buying to many GW paints in the future.

My Christmas Present Finally Arrived

Here's what I spent my Christmas money on. The entire Vallejo game colour range and some dystopian wars Prussian stuff.

Lets get Lootin'

I finally finished the fifth member of the squad last night. I'm happy with his all kit bashed deff gun but I'm also aware it's not as good as the others. See what you think.

I have bodies enough for five more but unfortunately not weapons or backpacks. My bitz box is getting pretty strained and it only really contains marine and chaos bits anyway. I'm trading some lovely tau and guard bits from some friends of mine so that should sort out a few more weapons but the backpacks will be a pain.

It maybe a case of gluing every worky bit I can find together or it may mean scratch building the packs with plastic card. I just don't know yet. If you guys have any suggestions please share them. I'll admit I'm pretty stuck

What do you say to a couple more ork lootas?

You don't say anything, you SHOUT IT!

Please enjoy

What do you say to an ork loota?

Anything you like, most of the time he can't hear you!

This guy has a gas powered assault cannon thing. The ammo is contained in the drum on the front.

I love this one, the grot on his back is removing bullets from the feed and dropping them into the ammo loader!

I can't stand the look of the shoulder mounted deff guns, which is a shame because the unit is such a nice thing to field in an army. Instead I always wanted them to be hulking about massive miniguns of some sort, which is why I bought the maxmini miniguns they recently added to their web store. Unfortunately they are only as large as an ork boyz shoota and are more in keeping with a human wielder. I bought a box of lootas anyway and began hacking up the bits and repositioning them to suit my initial idea. I am really pleased with the way the first two have come out. It just takes some patience, limb repositioning and greenstuff but I guess that's all part of the fun! Just another eight to go.

Also here is my finished dread. He doesn't have a name yet.

A Week in Glamor- My Ork Whaaaagh (part 3)

I finished the unit of Killa kans with custom grotzookas today. I added smoke to the exhaust stacks for a little extra fun. These are really easy to make, all you need is super glue, modeling 'clump' and wire. Simply cut a length of wire to the size you want the smoke then thread on balls of clump. The clump balls need to start small and progressively get larger. This creates the bellowing effect.

A Week in Glamor- My Ork Whaaaagh

I thought I would spend the next few days re-doing bits and bobs on my ork army. There are a few niggling details that I just haven't gotten round to finishing for one reason or another. So I thought it would be a good excuse for me to finish off those details and post up the finished units as their done.

Here is a nearly finished Kan from my kustom grotzooka unit. I'm going to work on him tonight along with the rest of his unit.
